Game Description
Set in the north-west region of Central America (near future in Colombia & Venezuela) “Delta Force: Angel Falls” takes the player to the rural, sparsely populated, jungle areas of this exotic locale. Avoiding the over-exposed Middle Eastern settings; the South American environment provides a premise which is naturally beautiful and full of new millennium conflicts.

Marginal governments, involved in local expansionism, continually scuffle with one another and with major global powers. Complicating the setting, drug cartels have evolved beyond money and violencedriven entities to political forces rivaling established governments. Influenced by current events, the game is both topical and novel.

The sometimes local philosophy of “your enemy is my friend and your friend is my enemy” gives rise to a multitude of ever-changing alliances and conflicts which drive the game’s rapid action and easy-to-digest back-story. The culmination of the conflict takes place in the Angel Falls area of Venezuela providing both a spectacular setting and a surprise ending.

Scuttlebutt:

Angel Falls will be in the Delta Force motif with drivable vehicles still part of the action.

One of the biggest complaints from the players who wanted Joint Operations to be more like Black Hawk Down and earlier titles was the loss of the foot-soldier duke it out in the trenches type game play attack vehicles made impossible.
If Angel Falls is to remain true to the Delta Force motif, vehicles will need to be transportation types, leaving out attack vehicles such as tanks, strikers, attack choppers and the like. Of note is Joint Operations was a new franchise and was directed toward a different type of game play.

Angels Falls will include single player missions and mission/map making.
Nova is expected to release a better version of Nile. Nile never moved past beta for Joint Operations, being released as a second thought after the map-making community was shocked the game came with no map editor. Many of us still feel Nile was to buggy and incomplete to build real missions with. It was not un-until DFX was released with a med, we got a usable mission editor we could use for Joint Operations.

A new game engine is being used for Angel Falls.

Is it really a new game engine or the same game engine first used for Comanche 4 over 8 years ago. Re-coded and enhanced as each new game was released. As good as the old engine was it may have reached it’s limit. The Impulse motion capture system Nova purchased in 2007 would indicate more realistic in-game character motion than we have seen  in the past. A new game engine would be a logical step to be bring Nova up to current technology.

The ability to play in games with 200 players online via NovaWorld
The ability to play in games with 150 players online via NovaWorld was one of the  main game features used to market Joint Operations Typhoon Rising 4 years ago. Those numbers have jumped to 200 for Angle Falls. While 150 players were possible for online play in a Nova server, the game playability was very poor do to lag and network traffic issues. With network advances, a new game engine and the fact that Nova moved to a higher bandwidth location since that time, large servers should see better game playability in larger servers with Angel Falls.
